Put the most where it playes - The neck!
Guitars using the taller Gibson style Tune-O-Matic bridge. and similar types, require the neck be raked back for proper string alignment with the fingerboard. GRL necks have the correct 4 degree back angle that allows the builder to achieve the correct string clearance from the frets throught the entire fingerboard. The peg head is also angled back 15 degrees to maintain correct string tention on the nut without the use of string trees.
All GRL guitar parts have been field tested and what has been learned is incorperated into every piece saving you, the builder, time and money.
All GRL necks are designed for neck through the body construction. This allows the builder to machine any form of attachment desired.
This is the most basic and cost effective for the more expierenced builders and pro shops. Stage 1 is furnished with nothing more than the glued up hardwood machined with the correct 4 degree fretboard angle and a blank peghead milled and attached at the correct 15 degree angle using a long scarf joint for maximum stability. no other shaping is done and no finish is provided.
includes everything in stage 1 but the neck has neen tapered for the fingerboard and the back side is pre-shaped into a flat D. No finish is provided.
Comes with everything in stage 1 and 2 but also includes an installed double action truss rod and fretted and shaped fingerboard. The peghead is shaped with the signature GRL profile. No finish is provided.
Just a note:
The peg head is a very weak area and it has been found that some woods work better for this area than others and changing species can also add a great look. From time to time GRL offers necks with a peghead of a different specie of wood then the neck wood for one or the other reason.
One of many guitars built with a GRL neck and body blanks.
If you don't love playing your guitar try one with GRL parts and you will!
